Midwest Fiber and Folk Art Fair

Posted in: About my work.

This is the first chance I have had to write about the MIdwest Fiber and Folk Art Faire (http://www.fiberandfolk.com).

This was the first really big event where I sold my Oddest Goddess Art Dolls.  My husband, Michael went with me in his role of Artist Support Staff (A.S.S) *grin*.

We had a great time, though Michael said that the estogen level was pretty high.

I sold lots of dolls, got lots of great compliments and some invitations to some galleries.  Also my new friends at  The Bagsmith (www.bagsmith.com)taken some of my dolls to other fiber shows.  My Oddest Goddesses first vacation was in New Hampshire. Two of my goddesses liked it so much there that they have decided to stay. Now the rest are taking a trip to the Stitches show in Chicago. If you see the ladies with the lovely giant knitting needles, stop and check out their selection of my Oddest Goddesses.

Also I had a doll in the Art Show at the Midwest Fiber and Folk Art Festival and I entered two purses I made for the vintage purse exhibition there also.

Lastly, I decided to put out one of my personal favorite Goddesses…my Navajo Spider Woman. My husband questioned this because he knew I really loved her and he didn’t think I wanted to sell her. In the last five minutes of the show, a lovely young woman came by and bought her!

I don’t have a really good picture of her but I did get this one before she sold. I hand wove her sash. She is adorned with turquoise and red coral necklaces I made for her. Her hair is embellished with sterling silver round beads. She is holding a spider web made with the Navaho colors for the four directions.Navaho Spider Woman Oddest Goddess
